Taxi Licensing Policy

Would you like the opportunity to have your say on how taxi services are provided in the area? South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils are consulting on a joint taxi licensing policy, but it ends on Friday 22 June.

We are asking people for their views on a range of proposals which include encouraging more wheelchair accessible vehicles in the area, a penalty point system for minor offences, spoken English tests for taxi drivers and standardised taxi roof signs.

The councils are also keen to hear views about the use of tariffs for hackney carriages which make it clear what the maximum charge for a journey is and whether there should be a maximum age for vehicles.

To find out more and take part in a short online survey please go to our web pages at www.southoxon.gov.uk/haveyoursay or www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/haveyoursay   Alternatively, please contact Kate Prince, Shared Consultation Officer on 01491 823093 or 01235 547614 to request a paper copy of the survey or for information about how to give your views in another way.

If you have any queries about taxi licensing, the draft policy or the consultation please contact Robert Draper, Shared Licensing Team Leader at licensing@southoxon.gov.uk  or licensing.unit@whitehorsedc.gov.uk or telephone 01491 823209 or 01235 540534.
